Numerous people live with chronic pain, which can have a serious impact on your enjoyment of life and overall well-being. While dealing with pain that is severe and/or long-lasting may leave you feeling depleted, Colleen Jorgensen — our guest in Episode 166 of The MINDset Game® podcast — offers a message of hope: pain is changeable, no matter its cause or how long you’ve had it.

As a manual osteopath, athletic therapist, a Pain Care Aware educator and lead trainer, and a therapeutic Pilates yoga and somatic teacher, Colleen is deeply curious about how the body, mind, and spirit are interconnected. Her interest in helping those living with chronic pain inspires continued studies and certifications in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, otherwise known as ACT, and functional nutrition for chronic pain. In this week’s episode, Colleen shares the following:

  • The importance of paying attention to your pain and what it might be trying to tell you, rather than fighting or being afraid of it
  • How simple check-ins — such as with your breathing, your body tension, and your thoughts and emotions — can help you build a stronger rapport with your body in order to receive its messages more clearly, and why these check-ins can be particularly effective even when you are not living in pain
  • Tools to help quickly reset your mind and body to soothe pain, stress, and other uncomfortable feelings
